Aerosmith lead singer and American Idol judge Steven Tyler has always been open about his past drug use, and his battle with addiction. Having lived a sober life for some time, Tyler will present the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award to Depeche Mode’s lead vocalist Gahan for his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP FundSM, and for his commitment to helping other addicts going through their recovery process. The award will be given at a MusiCares benefit concert that will held on May 6, 2011 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles at AEG Live . The event is billed as the 7th Annual MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert.
Concert promoter Gary Tovar will also be there, to present an award to Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, who will be the recipient of MusiCares’ From the Heart Award for his unconditional friendship and dedication to the mission and goals of the organization.
The event will be hosted by comedian Greg Behrendt, who will introduce talent including Curt Bisquera, Jane’s Addiction, Vincent Jones, Martyn LeNoble, David Levita, Jason Orme, Ozomatli, and Paramore. The concert will raise funds for MusiCares’ Addiction Recovery Services.
The evening will also include a special performance by Gahan. Adding to the festivities, Adam Bravin and Justin Warfield from She Wants Revenge will DJ during dinner.
President/CEO of The Recording Academy and MusiCares Foundation Neil Portnow and MusiCares Board Chair Emeritus John Branca will also attend, and are expected to make statements at the event.
The MusiCares MAP Fund, which provides members of the music community access to addiction recovery treatment. MusiCares offers programs and services to members of the music community including emergency financial assistance for basic living expenses, including rent, utilities and car payments; medical expenses including doctor, dentist and hospital bills; psychotherapy; and treatment for HIV/AIDS, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, hepatitis C, and other critical illnesses. MusiCares offers nationwide educational workshops covering a variety of subjects, including financial, legal, medical, and substance abuse issues, and programs in collaboration with healthcare professionals that provide services such as flu shots, hearing tests and medical/dental screenings. Staffed by qualified chemical dependency and intervention specialists, MusiCares Safe Harbor Rooms offer a support network to those in recovery while they are participating in the production of televised music shows and other major music events.

Brad Whitford will appear in an upcoming episode of A&E’s “Storage Wars.”
In the episode, Brad’s friend wins a storage unit, which he finds a couple vintage guitars in. To get some expertise and to find out what they are worth, he goes to Brad.
Brad sheds light on the worth of the guitars and gives a little history on the vintage piece.
