Rock and Roll superstars Aerosmith will be coming to Singapore in May for a A-list concert at Marina Bay Sands.

Together with a star-studded lineup including K-pop’s PSY and “Forget You” singer Cee Lo Green, the rockstars will be here on 23 May to rock out live at the Social Star Awards – held on our sunny island for the first time ever to recognise social media’s biggest stars.

It will be Aerosmith’s first time in Singapore. Led by flamboyant leader and ex-American Idol Judge Steven Tyler, they will be performing at the finale of the awards.

Also performing will be Blush, a five-member girl band with members from five different Asian countries who have previously shared the stage with Justin Bieber, the Black Eyed Peas, and Korean b-boy Jay Park.

The stars will be staying on after the awards show to rock out at The Singapore Social Concerts at Gardens by the Bay from 24-25 May, with a shared performance on 24 May and a full-set concert from Aerosmith on 25 May.

Categories for the Social Star Awards, touted as the “Oscars” of social media, include “Most Popular Music Solo Artist” with nominees like Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and, of course, PSY as well as “Most Popular Music Group” with contenders like Maroon 5 and One Direction.

Other quirkier awards include “Most Popular Brand” (Coca Cola, Blackberry) and “Most Popular Game” (Angry Birds vs Candy Crush, anyone?).

The Social Star Awards are based on data from social media site Starcount, which aggregates and charts social media trends on a base of about 1.7 billion social media users across 11 networks.

The entire awards ceremony, which will see a whopping 288 awards (or one every 5 minutes) being given out, will be streamed live via official video partner YouTube at www.youtube.com/starcount

Prices for the black tie awards event are steep – Super VIP seats are S$32,888 for a table of 10 placed very close to the stage. This includes a “VIP Entrance” and champagne reception, free flow of alcohol and a 3-course dinner prepared by MBS Executive Chef Christopher Christie.

“Regular” VIPs will have to fork out $18,888 for a table of 10 which sets them a little further away from the front, while those who just want a seat and to catch the action will have to pay $388 and up.

Fans who just want to catch their favourite bands in action over the weekend at Gardens by the Bay can buy general admission tickets from $150 a ticket for 24 May, or $165 for 25 May.

Tickets go on sale from 9 am on 24 May 2013 at www.starcount.com/tickets
