The notorious rockers will hit the road this summer to play their first European shows in three years. Tickets to the 02 Arena gig are expected to sell out in record time, as the band whip up a storm of rock nostalgia with anthems like ‘Love In An Elevator’.
The ‘Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock’ tour was announced in February 2010. Kicking off in Sweden and including ten dates in the UK, the tour then moves on to Romania, Greece, Holland, Belgium, Spain, France, Czech Republic and finally, Venice in Italy on 3rd July.
Following high-profile squabbles, rumours of splits, back injuries and treatment for drug addiction, the entire line-up – Steven, Joe, Tom, Brad and Joey – will show a united front as they revive their classic brand of bare-chested, big-haired rock.
Flamboyant front-man Steven Tyler said in a video announcement; “We’re coming your way and rockin’ your world. Look out baby, because here we come again!”

For now at least, all’s well with Aerosmith. The band, which seemingly has been on the brink of breaking up since last summer’s disastrous tour, posted a 23-second video yesterday [02/24/10] announcing plans to carry on with singer Steven Tyler. “You know what, the rumors are true. . . . I think,’’ says guitarist Joe Perry, referring to the band’s much-publicized recent problems. “I just auditioned and I got the gig,’’ Tyler chimes in. “We’re coming your way and rocking your world. Look out baby, ’cause here we go again!’’ The video, posted on the band’s website, is the first official word that Aerosmith will hit the road with Tyler, and not, as Perry had warned, a replacement. The band is scheduled to play several dates in Europe this summer, and a series of shows in South America is considered probable. (They’re calling this the “Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock Tour!’’) The band has been in perpetual crisis since Tyler fell off the stage in South Dakota last summer. They played a few shows in the fall, but the flamboyant frontman then checked himself into rehab, and there were reports that Perry and bandmates Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton, and Joey Kramer would be auditioning replacement singers. Among the names that surfaced were Billy Idol, Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, and Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers.
Guitarist Whitford still in the picture
Fans of the band will note that one member of Aerosmith is missing from the video, but don’t worry: Guitarist Brad Whitford is still very much in the picture. “It was inevitable that we’d get back at it,’’ Whitford told us this week. “We always had high hopes that we could work out the bugs and get back on track.’’ In the meantime, the ax man’s been busy. Whitford plays on the “Experience Hendrix’’ tribute tour and, this weekend [02/28/10], will be in Boston to perform at the House of Blues with an all-star lineup that includes James Montgomery, Joey Kramer, former Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau, Santana percussionist Michael Carabello, Johnny A, and Jim Belushi. (The gig is a benefit for Montgomery’s nonprofit DeviBlue, which provides health care for aging blues musicians.) “Being a musician is a tough life,’’ said Whitford. “You gotta work to eat and pay the rent, never mind health insurance. If I can give something back, I want to do that.’’
